This home was either constructed by the Reister family around 1900 or saw a major transformation of the original shotgun that once stood here.
 
In 1911, newlyweds Charles and Rebecca moved into the house. He was a transfer agent for the U.S. Express Company and the Louisville Herald. Charles passed away in 1951, ending about five decades years of residency by the Reister family.
 
This portion of Elm Street is in the process of being nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the expanded East Spring Street Historic District.
