Listing Description:

Built c.1910. Pyramid bungalow. Charles Gerald Nolan House. This is a portion of the original Plat 330, known as “Jacob Korb,” and dated July 1885. Plat 485 was recorded in June of 1910 from part of Plat 330. This area is part of the original Town of Silver Grove. The Town of Silver Grove was incorporated in 1886. The Grove had its own town hall with an elected council, and even had its own fire and police departments. New Albany annexed Silver Grove in 1915. The original address for this house is 406 Shelby Avenue before 1917.

This Pyramid Bungalow style house was built about 1910. The house first appears in the New Albany City Directory in 1911-12 but as being vacant. The house was apparently used as rental property from that time till 1941, as eleven different families are listed as living there in those 30 years.

In 1941 Charles Gerald Nolan and his wife Marguerite begin 25 years of residency here. He was employed at the B.F. Goodrich Company in Louisville. They are the longest inhabitants of the home.

After 1966 the home appeared to once again become rental property, as up until the presnet time it has had numerous occupants of no more than eight years each.

This house is located in the Silver Grove neighborhood in the east end of New Albany with an active neighborhood association since 2001. (See www.Silvergrove.org.)

The property’s judgment number is 22C01-0806-MF-413. With this number you can visit the Clerk's Office in the City-County building and enter it into their computers to find the judgment owed on the property. This is public record.
